Im installing Debian 3.1 and when I come to the part in the
installation where I need to install GRUB I get the following error:
The Grub package has failed to install into /target/. Installing GRUB
as a bootloader is a required step. The install problem however might
be unrelated to GRUB,

in dselect, but now it wants the exact folder-structure to be copied on the
dos-partition in order to install. The problem is: I can't make a folder

Thanks to J. Ramos Gancalves and David Ogilvie for the
'ldconfig' command. I don't know very well Linux, so I
didn't know this command. I'll attempt it.

i had the same problem when installing LaTeX, but it worked fine after i added
/usr/X11R6/lib to the ld.so.conf file. did you run ldconfig afterward to
update the library links?
