fetch non-free code to get this card to work.
Any ideas when this is likely to be supported in the mainstream kernel -

I'm trying to install a HighPoint RocktRAID 2220 controller on Debian Etch.
I had it worked on Sarge but now I have a new install on Etch.
I compiled the drive source try to load it with:
modprobe sd_mod
insmod hptmv6.ko
First it seems to go well, but in the end a lot of beeps are generat
Sarge out of the box.
I needed some more SATA channels, and considered the 3ware and Adaptec
solutions, but they were pricey. I don't need hardware raid, and have been
burned in the past...
I like Linux software raid: in Linux I have a vendor that I can trust!

I have a Highpoint Rocket 133 (IDE 133 Card) which I got working by
using a recent version of Knoppix (www.knoppix.net).
You can use boot the live Knoppix CD (wont change your existing debian
install) to figure
