Problem solved. I thought i had already kernel 2.6.8-3 but it was
2.6.8-2. After upgrading the kernel the problem disappeared.

i have a Digital Equipment Corporation DECchip 21142/43 networking
card. It works with the module tulip but the system (sarge, debian
kernel 2.6.8-3) loads the module de4x5 instead. The de4x5 is listed in
/etc/hotplug/blacklist and /etc/discover-autoskip.conf. I was
