If you just want to get a "taste" of Linux you should definitely try
Knoppix. Download one ISO (CD or DVD, depending on how fast your
internet connection is), burn it, boot your computer with it. That's all.

I know it's not a mac, so I won't click powerPC... but thats as far as
I have gotten. I386 sounds familiar, but that may be because Im used
to a windows system... please help.
