- check your cables... keep it straight as reasonably possible
- use the short ata-66/100 ide cables ( 18" or less )
- cables should have ground between the signals
80 conductors vs 40...
- use one disk per cable... do NOT mix and match ide speeds

Has anyone seen something like this when trying to mount their CD-ROM with
some of the latest kernel releases?
