I'm using a pretty vanilla debian 9 with xfce.
There's an Applications menu in the upper left which has lots and lots
of applications listed under multiple submenus.
There's a program that i have on my system whose name i cannot find in
the Applications menu.

I am having trouble with the Gnome Applications menu.
The problem is not present at boot-up. It appears for no apparent
reason, sometimes weeks after bootup.
I click on "Applications" in the tool bar at the top of the screen.
The drop-down list of applications appears.

Yay ! It works !
I had some trouble with themes not installing correctly - I often had to
manually put files into their individual
directories and some simply did not work when installed. Also,
wmakerconf kept crashing. Once I had manually (!)
deleted them I slept on it and this morning ran /gen

wmakerconf (1) - configure the Window Maker X window manager
I would suggest to take the following steps:
apt-get install wmakerconf
then run the little program, it has a nice graphical interface, it allows you to
manipulate the menus.
If this doesn't help, check t

Apologies. I've found the 'genmenu' home page.

Thanks Rodney.
I tried running 'genmenu' as root but Tux replied
'no such program'. I tried apt-installing it (Debian unstable) but
received the message 'cannot find program'.
Where does one source 'genmenu'. Should I add something to
/etc/apt/sources.list ?

Sorry for the WWII jargon but I've installed some themes into
~/GNUstep/Library/WindowMaker/Themes
but the 'applications' menu does not show any. In fact it has not been
working at all in this WM installation, but has not troubled me until now.
Any ideas out there ?

Hello,
I've installed gnome 2.2 today. Unfortunately my applications menu in
the panel is empty. I couldn't figure out why. What can I do that the
applications, the debian menu and the kde menu appear? The links to the
applications seem to exist. Nautilus shows them under "progra
