I am pleasantly suprised to find myself in a position to get a new
system and am eyeing the alpha boxes pretty heavy... How does
debian::alpha compare to debian::i386 in terms of package availability?
Are there any glaring omissions I should be aware of?

I am installing applix 4.3 and have hit a snag. I converted the
rpms from the CD to debian packages using alien which resulted in:
applix-books-english_4.3-2_i386.deb
applix-clipart_4.3-2_i386.deb
applix-english_4.3-2_i386.deb
applix-libs_4.3-2_i386.deb
applix_4.3-2__i386.deb

I am wanting to install applixware 4.3 on my debian system and would
like some advice as the best way to approach it. should i use alien to
convert the rpm packages or just run the install script or what? what
has proved successful for others?
