Thanks for responding everyone ! I found a very good tar script which I want to utilise, but I think I need to take a step back. I think I'm missing something, everyone is mentioning, your tape device should be /dev/tape or /dev/st0 etc.. The only things I have under /dev/ are: /dev/ MAKEDEV

Hi all, Pretty standard install of Debian, I haven't changed any logrotate settings but it seems to be working just fine.. All log files in /var/log/* are being rotated and compressed so I'm happy with that. eg. /var/log/syslog /var/log/syslog.0 /var/log/syslog.1.gz /var/log/syslog.2.gz and so o

Hi all, I have a Debian box which basically just runs syslog. Every 10 mins or so, after no keyboard activity, Debian blanks the monitor out... I have Power Saving mode on the monitor OFF. I find this behaves differently to other monitors. Is there some Debian power saving feature for the monito
