I haven't fired up my debian testing vm in a while but I did the other
day and upgraded it and now whenever X starts up, the keyboard dies.
Can't even switch back to a tty. Booting in multi-user.target works
fine, just not graphical.target. I thought I'd try to reinstall so I
downloaded the lates

I am running sid, and i have the standard gtk2 packages (gtk2, atk pango etc
including the development packages) except for gtkglext. I want to compile the
latest version of gtkglext and gtkglextmm from source.
when i run ./configure all is fine until
checking for GLIB - version >= 2.0.0...
Shared libraries generally save resources. Why would you want static
binaries, and exactly what binaries are you looking for?

Squashfs is a read-only filesystem and so, obviously, you cannot write
to the created files. Squashfs is, however, a very fast filesystem for
read random access. I'll be interested in knowing if you've had any
problems in this regard.

I am having some problems locking pages into memory. When I run mount
-o loop file.iso /mount (as root) it tells me iit could not allocate

I installed Courier-Imap today so I could get SSL IMAP support.
It doesn't appear to work. When I try to connect (with a standard

Recap: I managed to build a custom kernel with enough hooks to re-load my
ethernet module (only took 10 attempts!) I found that to get the RTL 8139
modules to work I needed to prompt for experimental parts of the 2.2.x
kernel to get RTL8139 support, and to check off

I wanted to add sound to by Woody install, and figured I needed to build me
a kernel (to add isapnp which seems not to be there by default).
The kernel (2.2.20) that installed with the woody installer used
the RTL8139 loadable module, and worked great.

and the resultant print quality is easily equal to
that of the Windows driver. The driver is based on ghostscript so fits in
with lprng or lpr or whatever and just needs a line in /etc/printcap.
I just installed the rpm version onto my Debian box. Caused no problems at
all.
