i just got myself a PCally trackball and am trying to get X to recongnize it
on the second Serial port. Unfortunately I nothing's happining. Is there a
generic trackball driver that would work for this? or a good howto on writing
mouse drivers, perhaps?

well... i played around w/ things, and managed to get a dummy driver set up.
and ./etc/ifconfig confirms the dummy0 as an ethernet device... but
something's missing that's preventing linuxconf-network from detecting and
using the dummy0 driver for the network... anyone have any ideas how to get

I'm new to Debian and just installed it. After fighting through the steps of
setting up the video card, Xserver, and mouse, i discovered that the network
card was not initialized. I have an old D-link ethernet card, and it appears
not to have a driver. Is there a way (short of re-install
