I'm going to be upgrading my system very soon and was considering upgrading to the AMD 64 bit processor. Are there already binary packages available for 64 bit or am I going to have to compile everything? I'm pretty sure there is already support for this architecture, I just want to be sure. T

First, let me explain why I'm running such an old kernel. This is the most recent one that allows ACPI to start even when it doesn't find the proper table entry. And I need ACPI on my laptop. That said, I'm now trying to get ALSA sound working. Everything looks fine, but I get a permissions err

I just finished a major update thanks to several of you and to aptitude, but now I can't mount my slave drive. It was working before the update, now it's not. The entry in /etc/fstab looks fine, but it's not listed in the output of 'mount'. I also can't mount it with 'mount /dev/hdb1 /mountpoint'.

Hello Debian Users! Let me start by saying that I am new to Debian, not Linux. I'm not familiar with some of the conventions and tools specific to Debian. I switched to Debian because I've always heard great things about its package management and I know that it uses binary packages (as opposed to
