Hi!
I'm trying to create a pseudo-image of the official binary-i386-
1_NONUS disc (potato). I already downloaded about 630 MB, but I
wasn't able to get following files, because I couldn't find them on
any server:
/doc/FAQ/html/ch-basic_defs.html
/doc/FAQ/html/ch-compat.html
/doc/FAQ/html/ch-con
Hi!
Can anybody tell me how (or where) the location of modules are
referenced?
Because I compiled and installed some modules, but if I try insmod
I get a message that the module couldn't be found.
But perhaps it's just a very dumb reason.

Hi!
I just wondered why the kernel is always compressed. Couldn't you
save boot time, if it's not???

For WOL you need to know the node adress of the network card in
the computer you want to wake up. Under Windows you can easily
get it by winipcfg. But can someone tell me how to get it under
linux?

Sorry, that my knowledge does have a big gap so far what linux
matters. But I think you wasn't born with your momentary
knowledge, too. So please try to treat somebody with a little bit of
the respect he gives to you, even although he has to advance in his
abilities. I always try to do so, too.
Hi!
Since I recompiled my kernel, I always get the message "Can't
load module char-maj-4". But the question is, what is "char-maj-4"?

Hi!
I can't get my sound card to work under linux (SB16).
So far I've recompiled my kernel with sound drivers, what else do I
have to do?
In the howto is a script mentioned to create the /etc/sound.conf but
I cant't find such a script.
Thanks for any help!

Hi!
Can anybody help me how to change my display resolution?
Right now I just have 640*480 with (I think) 16bpp, but I would like
to have 1024*768 with at least 16bpp.
Is it right that I just have to change something in the etc/XF86Conf ?
I didn't change the values so far, because I don't want so
