apt keeps the same upgradeable packages

After restoring to an older fs recently i'm having the problem of apt stuck on the same packages that it sees as upgradeable despite already being installed. I've tried reinstalling and installing those packages again with no luck. Any idea on how I can get dselect to recognize that these package

Hello. I have trouble -- I cannot boot anymore! After seeing fsck report some irregularities (but fixing it) I come to the login but the keyboard isn't working anymore! I say anymore because it has been working untill then. I've figured that it first stopped working at lpr initialization. Strangely
