Anyway, is there a way to get Synaptic to "reread" all
installed software? If so, what is it?
I haven't had any luck using the almighty Google this time.

perhaps?
I installed the ATI Driver (proprietary version 8.39.4) and had to go
back to kernel version 2.6.18-4-k7 to get everything working properly.
(At least back to the 2.6.18 series). There is a conflict between the
latest kernel and the latest ATI driver.
Hope that helps!

I think it's on the right track, but I seem to still have a problem.
When I select Windows in list I get sent back to the Grub menu. Any
ideas on why or where to look for a clue?

(The wording may be slightly different that this). Is this a
limitation of DVD-Styler? I tried Googling for ways to solve it but
couldn't find anything. If it is a limitation, can I combine the mpeg
files together to reduce the number of files in the DVD?

I assume that this is a permissions or group membership problem
but I can't seem to figure it out. Any suggestions on where to begin?
Ideally, I would like to burn CD-ROMs and DVDs logged in as myself, not
