I appreciate the help some members have given me with a soundcard on a
Toshiba Tecra 8000, running Sarge.
I am now working on the card in an older Toshiba, a Portege 660CDT,
running Woody. It is the same soundcard as the other machine, an
OPL3SA2. The BIOS yields these figures:
WSS I/O Address=53
he CD
through Digital Audio Extraction?
And why do I have to use DAE on the Toshiba anyway?
I appreciate your help,
Ted

Running Sarge, my Toshiba Tecra 8000 laptop loads the proper sound
module, snd-OPL3SA2. But XMMS and GNOME-CD will only occasionally play
the sound from an audio-CD, even though they read the titles from the
CD tracks.
What's the problem?
Somebody recommended that I upgrade the kernel to 2.6. Wou
After help from the list, I was able to configure my OPL3SA2 sound
card with ALSA. Now, however, I cannot get the CDROM drive to play an
audio CD. Gnome-CD and Ascd see the music CD, read the title, and spin
the disk. But no sound. The sound modules are loaded, and alsamixer
has the levels properly

Thomas,
I personally have found ndiswrapper difficult to get running under
Sarge. I would be interested in hearing other people's experiences.
I now have ndiswrapper installed, can load the driver with modprobe,
but have yet to make my LinkSys card connect to the network.
Best,

the ALSA
drivers to work? Neither alsaconf nor sndconfig will configure the
card.
Thanks,
Ted Parks

I posted a query about the s3virge driver. After some responses and more
research, I need either an s3_svga or xf86-s3 driver. The card is an
s3trio64+.
I am new to Debian. How do I apt-get what I need to run the s3_svga
driver, or, failing that, the xf86-s3 driver?
Thanks,

Anybody have experience configuring an s3virge card?
