Does Debian etch have available a Russiaan Cyrillic-English homophonic
keyboard? If yes, how can I install it? The keyboard would it
easier for me to do certain things. Thanks!

I am using kernel 2.6.24-etchnhalf.1-686. The last few times I have
attempted to run aptitude update && aptitude upgrade from the command
line I have gotten an error message. gzip: stdin: not in gzip
format
Error http://ftp.us.debian.org etch/main packages
Sub-process gzip returned an error cod

Is ALSA broken in Debian etchnhalf (linux-image 2.6.22-4-686)? I am using a
ThinkpadT42 with an Intel audio controller 82801DB/DBL/DBM
(ICH4/ICH4-L/ICH4-M) AC'97 Audio Controller (rev 01). The audio worked in
the past, but I don't use audio that often and I don't remember if upgrading
to etchnhalf
