look at /etc/network/interfaces. This is the file that control how you
can setup network (eth*, lo, etc). see man interfaces.

you can either install kernel-source-2.x.x packages or go get it from
http://www.kernel.org/pub.

As fas as I know, you'll need the XFS/JFS patch for GRUB, try to see
this:
http://oss.sgi.com/projects/xfs/faq.html#grubwork
The best way is to have an ext2 partition for /boot, so you can always
have GRUB load linux kernel. That way, it will be easier to change your
linux root file system to so

Press Ctrl+Atl+F1 to get back console #1, Alt+F7 to back to X.

Does this happned to anyone? and what should I do with it?

hi,
I was wondering that when I saw the /etc/init.d/devfsd script requires
it. So, before I switch to devfs, I need to creat that file? if so,
how'd I create it?
thanks,

GRUB do *support* ReiserFS. My debian boxes have
ReiserFS root file system and I boot them with GRUB.

if the partition you want to convert to is root
partition, then take a look at http://www.namesys.com.
There, you will find FAQ that give you some
instructions to do so. For me, so far no problen, but
things would be much easier, if you have GRUB boot
disk in your hand.

It's called jdk but the version is 1.1. if you need
1.2 or higher, get it from blackdown, ibm, and sun

Hi,
I am having with modem not working in my debian box.
When I tested my modem using minicom and type "ATDT"
followed by phone number, it said "No Dial Tone".
BTW, It works fine in Windows but I had to uncheck
"Wait for dial tone before dialing". So, this
question is how I can set the option in
package. The one in sid seems
outdated.

Hi,
I just updated lastest nautilus from sid (with mozilla
0.9), but I can't navigate web sites using nautilus.
I also have nautilus-mozilla installed. Do I miss
something?

I used to try IBM's JDK 1.3 and it worked fine (such
as JavaSpace, Sun's xsltc, apache's xalan). So, you
may want to check it out.

Hi Joan,
I have Diamod internal modem at home and it work fine
in my debian. I don't remember what exactly the modem
is, but it look like Supra Express something.

Hi,
I'm having troble with compiling kernel 2.4.2. here is the error:
nm vmlinux | grep -v '\(compiled\)\|\(\.o$\)\|\( [aUw]
\)\|\(\.\.ng$\)\|\(LASH[RL]DI\)' | sort > System.map
make[1]: Entering directory `/home/san/linux/arch/i386/boot'
ld -m elf_i386 -Ttext 0x0 -s -oformat binary bbootsect.o -o
look likes you don't have libc6-dev package and maybe binutils. Also, you may need to try install kernel-package which is designed to compile linux kernel in debian way.
hope that helps

One problem I found is that ReiserFS option does not
appear in my woody. I'm not sure whether it will
appear in unstable or it may be because of wrong
version of modutils and others.
