I installed a UML Etch dist as described here:
http://www.punknix.com/?q=virtualization_uml
aptitude segfaults on everything I've tried except update. Here is
example output.
ws-uml:~# aptitude install python
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree... Done
Initializing package
Anyone know how HP's certification for Etch has gone and when it will be
official? Also, if someone has experience ordering servers from them,
do they actually ship it with Debian installed and will they do any
customization like disk partitioning?

I'd like to test different drive configurations virtually without having
to resort to something like vmware or qemu. I know how to create a
virtual filesystem using dd and wonder can I create a virtual drive that
I can partition with fdisk, etc. For example, I'd like to set up a
virtual raid

I'm running Debian Unstable and am very confused about how to set up the

this and ALSA that and esd and arts and so on. When I pull up the gnome

Can someone tell me why swsusp and pmdisk are not compiled with the 2.6
kernel? I'd like to have this feature on my laptop, but don't like the
idea of keeping up with a custom kernel.

After upgrading to kernel 2.6.7, both pmdisk and swsusp quit working.
pmdisk complains about a bad signature on boot and swsusp hangs while
loading the image. Anyone else had problems with these?

I'd like to learn LISP. Can someone tell me how to get it installed /
get started on Debian? What packages do I install, etc?

I've noticed that my gnome terminal (2.4.2) is sluggish and uses alot of
cpu. For example. If I unzip a file (unzip foo.zip) in the terminal,
95% of the cpu goes to displaying the output and %5 goes to the zip
program. 10 lines per second to the terminal puts my P4 1.7G processor
to its knee
