I believe that if you have wireless-tools you have the executable iwconfig.
You can use iwconfig to set the SSID (as well as other parameters such as
channel and key).

This morning I installed woody on an HP Kayak with SCSI. I used the bf24
option at the top of the installer (which installs a newer kernel that has
more drivers).
