On one machine I created a chroot using debootstrap, and put grub
(stage2_eltorito) into it, but I think I'm having trouble with my
initrd.

debootstrap --resolve-deps appears to only be a valid option for the 'unstable' release… I'm not sure why I'm having trouble with the 'stable' version.
