Before I found out that gnome was broken (running Sarge), I d/led all the
gnome files to try running gnome. I have been using kde. Since I couldn't
get it to work (gnome), I deleted all the files I installed. I use two

I bought the official Debian2.0 CD's and am having trouble installing
everything that I want.
I mark the programs that I want, install them, then change the CD to the
"contrib" CD and then do
a update. When I select and try to install the programs/apps, it won't
install them!
What am I missi
I have tried searching for my answer, but have missed it (I guess).
After connecting to my ISP through Minicom, I do 'Ctrl-A Q' and get back to
my root prompt.
I then type 'pppd-d' (or 'pppd'). All I get is the garbage that I see when
ppp is started under
Minicom. Any ideals why this is?

It goes through loading the kernel and the other checks till it gets to the
fsck area. There it finds that my hda2 is clean (where I have Linux). The
hd does some very rapid activity and then after about 3 secs, it just
