I'm running potato + kernel 2.2.14 on my laptop, a Dell Inspiron 7000. I
used to be able to susend the thing without any problems at all, but
then something happend. I can't recall that I changed anything or that I
did see any updates on apmd. Now I can only suspend when I am in console
mode.

I wonder what I have to do in order to be able to use Java 1.2 on my
potato box. If I understand it right, I need glibc 2.1, which means that
I have to go to unstable. I want to stay away from the unstable if
possible.
So, my question is: what is the simplest way for me to install and use

How can I limit some of my users to be able to use FTP but not be able
to use Telnet. I thought this was possible by changing the shell to
/bin/true, but I didn't work. I'm running potato and I'm using proftp as
FTP server.

I just got the offer to buy a Dell Inspiron 7000 and I wonder if anyone here
got any thoughts about running Debian on it. Pros? Cons? It is the PII 333
model with 96 megs. Has builtin DVD (can I at least use it as cd-rom?) and a
builtin modem (Winmodem I guess...). How well does the suspend/re
