Just wondering if there's any "official" (or somewhat complete) list of
third party repositories for Debian. By "third party repository," I'm
refering to alternative apt sources such as
ftp.nerim.net/debian-marillat and http://archive.kalyxo.org/kalyxo/ .

I'm familiar with alsamixer, and how
alsactl store
saves default settings in the /var/lib/alsa/asound.state file.
But I can't figure out where gnome-volume-control saves settings. I'm
assuming it's one of the individual user's config files, but can't find
it.

Every now and then, there's a bit from Ian Murdock about getting
Kickstart working for Progeny Debian:

But I can't find any packages in the Debian trees - will Kickstart be
limited to Progeny Linux, or is there some version of Kickstart in test

Just wondering if there's a dpkg (or maybe debsums) command functionally
equivalent to
rpm -Vf /path/to/filename
Which checks and verifies a specific file against the original package -
or do I need to resort to a Tripwire check.
