i will buy a laptop. Perhaps it will be the HP Pavillon N 5461.
Does anybody have install debian linux on this laptop ?
Could you send me some links to know on which laptops i can install
linux easily.
Could i have yours point of view about install of linux on others

when i use RedHat, i install some applications from the source file
(tar.gz) in my home directory.
Is it possible with Debian to install in my home directory some debian
package (.deb) ?

I have a PC with debian woody. I really know nothing about MacOS :)

I finally decide to install kde2 and Ximian Gnome to
have an "office" station on my potato
I download kde2 with : deb http://kde.debian.net ...
It works fine
But for Ximian Gnome, I see in their homepage that
i just write in /etc/apt/sources.list something like :
deb http://red-carpet.ximian.com/ .

of /var/apt in other location ?
