Is there a debain package for Pine? I haven't seen one, but I could be
looking in the wrong place. I have elm installed ut I prefer to use pine.
If anyone know where I can get a debian package for Pine I would
appreciate it.

I have squid 1.1.7 installed on my Debian 1.3 machine and it loads fine,
but I don't think it is caching anything. Do I have to change something
in my browser, like I would for a proxy server? I am using Netscape 4.05.

I was curious about the problem that you people were having with crc
errors. I recently recompiled my linux kernel on a machine that has been

I have set up a little test network if I try and telnet or ftp into my
other Linux machine it takes like 2 minutes to get the login screen after
it establishes an ftp or telnet session. After I get logged in it is
fast. Is there something I can do to speed up the log in time.

like to know which files I need to modify. In a Linux book I have, which
doesn't talk about Debian none of them do, says I need to modify the
rc.inet1 and the rc.inet2 files. They don't exist on my Debian system.

I am trying and trying and trying so hard to get my email to work on my
Debian 1.3 system, but nothing I ever do seems to work. I am going nuts.
Smail has somehow gotten halfway installed on my system and it wont go
away. If I try and remove smail with this command:
dpkg --force-remove-reinstre
I am running Debian 1.3 and kernel 2.0.33 and I am trying to install ELM
I go through the sh /Configure but when I try tail -f MAKELOG it gives me

not install. I think I tried this a month or so ago and it did not work.

I recently posted a message about problems I was having with making a
bootable floppy. I followed the how-to step by step and I have fallen
down twice. I am not sure if I figured my RAM disk word correctly, I am
using one disk so I said my ram disk word value would be 16384. I then

Internet email and I never get it to work. I currently have to telnet in
to my isp and get my mail that way. It works but I would rather get my
mail like a normal person and have pine setup locally.

I have just installed Netscape Communicator 4.05 on my Debian 1.3

Problem #1 Netscape does not resolve all domain names. It will go to the
Gimp site but not AfterStep or Netscape homepage. I am assuming that it

right off of the harddrive. You will need more than the cabs actually.
