Hiya,
Currently have access to 2 machines.
My box is 486DX266 with 16 MB RAM and box-2 is same except 8 MB RAM.
Both have 400 MB Hard disks.
This is my plan:
Setup box-2 with debian whilst avoiding as much duplication
as possible between the two machines.
Setup box-2 with NIS to our central serv
Hiya all,
Am having trouble compiling kernel 1.2.13
Had a look at DejaNews to see if anyone else has been
having the same trouble and found the message enclosed

Hiya,
Has anyone succeeded in compiling numerical python ?
I am currently running the debian pre-1.2 distribution found
in frozen/unstable. And installed all the python stuff except
some of the database support archives.
I have tried to follow the instructions that come with NumPy, but

Hi
A computer I was doing some upgrades on ceased working. I suddenly
found that I can no longer run X as a user other than root. If I
use xdm, I just get kicked back to the login screen. If I run
startx, the X-server just shuts down with no diagnostic messages.
Unfortunatly I can't even ca

Hi,
dpkg, is a manual version of dselect. dselect is simply a
user friendly interface to dpkg. I think the best way to find out more
about dpkg is to do

Hi all,
Following the thread about how to enhance dselect/dpkg to ease
re-installation, I would like to suggest my idea:
A menu item in dselect to store the present configuration on the
base diskettes.
One of the main uses for the root, boot and base

In that case you might want to try the archives.
You will get a much speedier response from there, I'm sure :).
Sorry can't answer your question.

Hi World,
I wrote earlier about the system crashes I was experiencing.
These often happen when using X and several times when pushing
the same button in mailtool.
However, it seems the above is unrelated, for I've been
keeping an eye on top recently and it shows the system
runs out of memory qui
Hi,
Has anyone else experienced complete lockups of the system?
It has happened a few times to me, and it doesn't even let me
telnet or rlogin to the machine. So far this has happened
only under X and when using mailtool over remote connection.
