require syncing UIDs/GIDs between
our Linux machines, which is close to impossible because we are running
different distributions (Debian and SuSE) and different machines have
different groups of accounts.

And it apparently cannot cope with FTP-over-SSL as well.
At least, it refuses to connect to our server (says "SSL required") in the
log). the package "gftp-ssl" does not seem to exist for Debian. (it does
for Fink, aka MacOSX)
any hints?

resources to support Linux.
So: anybody know a graphical (preferably) client, that can do FTP over SSL
or tunneled via SSH?
