Sorry, my mistake. I overlooked the RAID option for my SATA disk in BIOS.
When changing this to IDE, everything was fixed.

I have a problem with the newest Debian testing installer on i386.
The installation works perfectly but when I reboot after the installation
the computer is unable to mount the root partition. Resulting in
(initramfs) prompt which I don't know how to use.

Etch? I know a lot of complicated ways :) but I need version 2.4 to test old
kernel modules.
