Greetings,
When I was a system administrator, there was a command to find out how
much real memory was on your system, logged in as root (making sure you
didn't confuse the input and output!):
dd if=/dev/mem of=/dev/null bs=1024 conv=noerror
It would chug away for a minute or two, then give you
w is; if my menu.lst is:
# kopt=root=/dev/sda2 ro
and my fstab entry for root is:
/dev/sda2 / ext3defaults,errors=remount-ro 0 1
Then I probably don't need to worry about this gotcha,
OR is there a "Future-proof" way of setting up the disk???
TIA, fcG.

Greetings,
I am running Evolution 2.6.3 on "etch" kernel 2.6.18-6-686.
I trying to import a list of email adresses in .CSV format.
The import works OK, but I'm having trouble creating a contact list.
I can select all the emails, but doing a "drag and drop" just does not
want to work...
Can anyon
re any gotchas with the manual install of JRE 6???
TIA, fcG.

Thnx 1.0E6 Raj, it worked a treat!!!
(I am amazed at the response and accuracy of debian lists;
I must be learning how to suck eggs...)
