As stated earlier I could not get Debian-stable to detect a NIC or
drive(s) on my brand spanking new LG LW20 laptop running on Intel's 915
chipset. Finally I gave up and tried testing ("etch") where I could
partition the drive, but the NIC still failed to detect.

I have never installed one of those myself, but follow the link below
as it covers a lot of different Dell hardware. 2850 is not listed at
the moment, but I'm sure it'll pop up there sooner or later – it might
even work with the current boot cd you can find there. I don't know,
