Hi,
I just installed Current debian (I guess that's Woody? Or is
it Sarge now?) Anyhow, I've been trying to install my X-server,
with KDE or with Gnome.
But both of them seem to want Cracklib2-2.7, and KDE also wants
ksirc. In both cases, when I am downloading, no matter where I go,

Hi,
I have an interesting situation:

Okay, I've just tried to uninstall both KDE *and* Gnome in order to fix
my problems, and have found the source of my problem a little bit
better, but not how to fix it:
Dselect seems to be hopelessly jammed up.
If anyone has some suggestions, I'd appreciate it.

Hi -- I have an interesting problem:

since the old version crashed anyhow on my own user name.

(3) I upgraded Woody to Sid. (meanwhile using Gnome and KDM)
(4) I installed KDE 3.0.4 through dselect.
My cdrom is /dev/hdb. I don't have a /dev/cdrom listed. Is there a way
that I can create a /dev/cdrom?

Hi --
I have Sid, but used to have Woody -- the problem seems to be
independant of the choice here. The problem also seems to be possibly
related to both KDE 2.x and Gnome, so perhaps independant of that, too.
I use KDM for login.

How do I access my pics? I'd really like three answers:

(3) How to create nice compressed .mpgs from it (

Hi,
I have woody and KDE. I'm trying to get PDQ, especially XPDQ, up and

I tried to install PDQ from Dselect, and that didn't seem to work.
I went to the HOWTO, and thence to a PDQ site, and downloaded my

I have KDE, and whenever it starts up, it says it cannot initialize the
sound, because /dev/dsp returns "permission denied". (I am assuming
that dev/dsp refers to the DSP on the sound card.)
Likewise, I cannot run Floppy services unless I log in as root.
Okay... I'm not a genius, but this is going to be
a no-brainer for some of you, I can't figure it out.
I have a simple program that uses log.
I have "include " in my program.
When I compile on gcc, I get "unknown identifier: log."
gcc mylogprog.c -o mylogprog.exe

Okay, I managed to *create* some baltic characters for the console,
anyhow, using FONTER. I'm expecting I could figure out BASH to make it
automatically install the character set. Later, if need be, I can
export text files, and use mass search/replace to convert it to
something I could send.
