When I got to work this morning, unlocking my X screen took an enormous
amount of time, and the rest of the system was incredibly sluggish. Top
revealed several copies of cron and a couple of copies of smbd running,
and they pretty much had 100% of the CPU time split between them. Has

Either that or look under /var/run for a file like gtt.pid.

The Zip "partition" is in your case /dev/hdc4. make a directory called
/zip, and do a "mount -t vfat /dev/hdc4 /zip". Your Zip disk's contents
will apper in /zip.
Alternatively, you can use the automounter to handle this.

Samba works quite well for this sort of thing.
You can get all the info you want from www.samba.org/samba.
There is a Debian package of version 1.9.18p10 somewhere (I'm not sure at
the moment), with a filename of samba 1.9.18p10-7.deb.

No chance. The Imac is a PPC based distro, which won't be available
from Debian as a stable release until potato is stable, or so say the
plans @www.debian.org.

You may also have a power quality problem, or a problem with the system
power supply.
I would definitely try using memory from a different dealer, and failing
that, I'd put a decent UPS on the computer.

It is a well known fact in Mathematics that Pi is 4*arctan(1). arctan(x)
is the integral from 0 to x of (1/(1+x*x)) or, if you're not
mathematically inclined, it is the area between the x axis and 1/(1+x*x)
and between the y-axis and x. So, the for loop is simulating this
integration. Of course, th
I've got an 8.4GB IDE in my machine that runs like a clock (without the
tick-tock :-).

I've got a couple of machines which dual-boot Debian and NT (though on one
of them, NT is going away very soon). I initially had NT installed on
them, and later installed Debian, which if I understand correctly, is the
case here. Both will boot either OS just fine.
My server machine at home has no
I once had one of these modems. there is a program for linux which can be
used to download the code natively. Its called smdl and can be found at
sunsite.unc.edu/pub/Linux/apps/serialcomm/modem. you didn't specify which
model you use. Supposedly, this only works on a connection modem.

Hello,
does any one know about a clone for Norton Editor (the same way
Midnight Commander looks like Norton Commander) ? I have a bunch of
users who do not change to LINUX just because they are used to NE.
Thanks, Pablo.

Hello,
this is a second post about a question I sent some time ago. I
did not get any answer, but may be there is some one new in the list...
I would like to know if some one has installed/booted LINUX in a
Digital Prioris 6000 HX or Dell PowerEdge 4200 machines. I know LINUX
boots
.

then
/usr/sbin/amd -a /amd -d math.tifr.res.in -l /var/log/amdlog \
/usr5 /usr/local/etc/amd/homes.usr5
then IT WORKS !!
Why do I have to umount and execute amd by hand? I have the same script
in a Slackware distribution (in the same machine) and it gives no
problems.
