I just installed and configured X Windows on my system. I seem to have
done it incorrectly, since when it loads, it's a mostly white screen with
black dots on it. What makes it worse is that it now loads on startup,

wrong alias for eth0, and I needed to run 'pump' for it to work. My

OK, I just installed the base Debian system, and now I need a way to
install packages. My big problem is that there is no driver module for my
ethernet card in the kernel. Therefore, I can't use a network to get
packages. I have a driver for the card, but the only thing I can do is put
it on
I just installed potato on my system. I can't find a driver for my network
card in modconf (it's a 3Com 3C905C-TX), and therefore I can't download any
software packages. Anyone know where I can get one? Is there another way
besides CD-ROM to get packages, like mabe from a DOS partition?

OK, so I get the digest version of this list, which has the nasty habit of
leaving some messages out sometimes. I missed the recent messages about
ReiserFS. Could anyone give me a recap of what that was about? I was
planning on installing it, but from the header it looked like there might
