Hi guys,
I am trying to install debian 2.2 on my second hard drive. The official
cd I have boots up (using disc 2) and I set the keyboard, partition and
initialise the native and swap partitions. I choose not to be compatible
with pre 2.2 kernals. It is now time to install kernal and modules
In general, you can reconfigure packages with 'dpkg-reconfigure '
This procedure, applied to xserver-xfree86, should give you a file
'/etc/X11/XF86Config-4'. If you want to reconfigure X later on, dexter
does a decent job of it.

I've heard that Lucent provides modules for their Winmodems for linux.
But again, "I've heard"...

it was a long time ago (slink) and at that time I didn't even know I
can file a bug repor
Just edit the file
/etc/default/rcS
and change the line with UTC to

I had the identical systems. Logging in on a text console (alt-ctl-F1,
then log in), and examining the file .gnome-errors in my home directory, I
found that gnome was complaining about not being able to find a certain
shared library file. (Can't remember the name--something with pixbuf in
it some

I'd suggest either use 16 bpp all the time or simply switch to virtual
console, run startx -- -bpp 16 and use this second X server for GL stuff
or modify xdm config to start two X servers - one with your regular
settings, the other one for 3D stuff
there are probably some other ways as well
