As the error message suggests, you might wish to try the -I option:
smbclient -L skrappur -I ip_address
where ip_address is the address of the machine you're trying to connect
to.
Apparently the machine does not realize that its NetBIOS name is
"skrappur."

Check dmesg (dmesg|less). Which 3Com card do you have? (which driver?) I use
the 3c95x as a module with 2.2.9, and I don't have that problem. Also,
manually insmoding if it's a module will tell you. Did you run depmod -a
after compiling?

we have a japanese guest scientist and he would like to read his japanese
email here. I bet it is possible to do this with debian, debian-jp. Can
somebody please tell me what packages to install to allow reading japanese
mail with debian? (and maybe send a mail in japanese for testing?)
