correctly with NIS, I can only log in from text consoles, X will not
even allow root login. Also, the keyboard freezes on entering X - I
need to connect via the net to kill xdm and regain the keyboard in

programs (I use dpkg-ftp) access the list of installed packages,
one of the lists is missing something. How do I correct this

Turn off xdm while doing this kind of tweeking, instead use startx
to start the server. Once it's working the way you want, reinable

having real serious problems with our "master" system that caused the mirrors
to remove some files.

In an attempt to move some things around on my Linux server, I forgot that
a reboot clears /tmp, and subsequently erased parts of the ftp home
directory which I was shifting from one disk to another. What's the best
way for me to restore ~ftp/bin, ~ftp/etc, and ~ftp/lib?

Is the /debian/buzz/binary-i386/devel directory supposed to be
empty? Does anyone have copies of the files that were there. I

yet, but I have not yet had a chance to test X. There are unsatisfied
dependencies on 3 non-essential X accessory packages that I have yet to
fix. Otherwise, it's "safe".

Thanks all for suggestions on trying to get the MS Word Viewer to run
under wine. I've finally given up! :(
WINE segfaults under wordview.exe now. (At least it starts to execute it..
