i've just upgraded from stable/woody to testing/sarge, works great.
then i tried to build local Package[.gz] files with dpkg-scanpackage.
now, after the upgrade dpkg/md5sum seems to be broken:
when i run 'dpkg-scanpackages pool/sarge/main /dev/null' i get
Strange text from `md5sum <

apparently downgrading apt from 0.5.5.1 to 0.5.4 makes apt-get work
y installing some of the packages held back. it might give you some more info
why the package is held back.
anyway, i'm no apt guru and my considerstions may just be plain wrong.
