If it´s that what you were looking for, try
route add -host gw 127.0.0.1
That´ll blackhole it and you won´t have to modify the file for that.

But to complete the collection here´s an error that I see frequently on the
external interfaces of our routers.
Suspect short first fragment.

requirevalidshell is by default set to on. So proftpd will not allow logins
from users whose shell is /bin/false, since this one is not listet in
/etc/shells to be a valid shell.
