I understand everyone is busy with woody, but is there any chance of a
2.2r4 release soon (maybe there are pending security issues)? It was
last mentioned to be planned for the end of May.

Please, pretty please, consider xfree86-1_3.3.6-11potato32 for 2.2r3
if you haven't already done so.
Apart from the security fixes, it fixes bug #82054, which breaks many,
many Xaw applications (all the ones using the text widget with files)
in potato.
