Marking the bug as fixed in sid. I'm not sure this bug is worthy of an
update in a wheezy point release.
For those
I had the exact same issue on wheezy, which was gone after installing (i.e.
downgrading) the package libsane to squeeze. I pinned it in apt/preferences.
