Dear all,
In order to have a broader point of view on the debian/upstream file that we
are using, especially about potential clashes with other uses, and for making
sure that its syntax is broadly acceptable, I would like to finalise it as a
Debian enhancement proposal (DEP), probably this summer.

This is already covered by debtags. It has implemented-in::* tags for this
purpose.

in WNPP bugs there is a field for "Programming Lang" but as far as I can
see this information is not propagated into the meta information of the
uploaded package. The only place where this information is recorded as
well is in the tasks files of Blends for prospective packages where we
