Hi,
I have a large Java package (as a jar in /usr/share/java) that is
accompanied with some Jython intergration (Python file). Upstream provides
a small script that adds the jar to the classpath, and starts jython
with a local python.path.
How should I package this for Jython?

I hereby orphan the jython package.
Jython is an implementation of the high-level, dynamic, object-oriented
language Python seamlessly integrated with the Java platform. The
predecessor to Jython, JPython, is certified as 100% Pure Java.

Last night I formally put the jython package up for adoption (#315289).
The reasons are because my time is rather more constrained than it used
to be, and because I have increasingly little to do with java these
days.
Since jython is a non-trivial piece of software, it

Not even for 2.2.

It all seems a bit much, gi
I originally sent a question about this to debian-java, guess maybe I
should've asked here.
I have "jdk1.1" and "jython" packages installed. Curiously, when I run the
Jython interpreter interactively it doesn't accept indentation (which makes
it nearly useless fo

To add to the multiple python versions confusion:
jython recently appeared in debian.
To make things correctly, it should be possible to
use it as replacement of python, and also it should be
possible to have both python and jython installed
simultaneously.

Hi. On the topic of Jython, I received this from jython-dev (see below) - so
it seems the GPL incompatibility is not likely to go away any time soon.

Assuming the offer's still standing, I'm happy to have a go. I find it
useful.

Hi,
the BTS still holds my ITP to package JPython (nowadays called Jython).
Jython is an implementation of the Python language in pure Java, see
http://www.jython.org/.
As much as I'm interested in the issues involved with a painless coexistence
of C-Python and Jython on Debian, I haven
