I see git-buildpackage depends on cowbuilder, which depends on
pbuilder. So that "vanilla" environment is probably pbuilder. "sudo
pbuilder update" will update it.

Well, I have no problems in my installation, it's just on the "vainilla"
environment setup by git-buildpackage.
