No GUI after install of Debian 8.4.0 PowerPC

I installed Debian 8.4.0 PowerPC onto an iMac G5. When I tried using Debian, I only saw a command-line interface. startx didn't start the GUI. I did see an error message when I tried using startx, but it went away too quickly for me to read. This is the name of the install cd I used: debian-8.4

I have a ATI Radeon 9600 and it has problems. Debian disappointedly booted to a command prompt after installing it. Startx also failed to load the GUI. This news about making a kernel that supports 4k pages might be a solution. I don't have Debian anymore so I can't try it. On Jun 9, 2016, at 4
