Thanks. I tried this (and other variations) for hours the other
night but whatever I did to load and unload the drivers, the next
time I went to mount the CD in the CDRW drive, mount would hang and
the drive would be useless.
The situation is like this:
The CDRW drive works well after boot up.

my firewire QPS CD-RW works nicely with the 2.4.18 kernel but for
one problem.
If I put my iMac to sleep, the CD-RW is useless after waking up
until I reboot. Scanning the bus with gscanbus or another scanbus
script can cause the machine to lock up.
