Maybe someone can explain the differences b/w the different X servers (i.e
Xpmac vs XF68_FBDev) and what is needed to get stable accelerated X
support?
urls will be welcomed as well.

Geert et al,
The problem is not as simple. The G3 laptops have a different kind of

Ok, I gave it a look, ...
First you are using offb, which don't seem to set the accel flag, so it is
normal that the X server don't recognizes the chip.
So first you have to get a fbdev that sets the accel flag correctly, don't know
if the offb is capable of that, best would be to ask on the fb

2.2.10 has also a problem on chrp (dunno about booting):
make[1]: Entering directory
`/project/Linux/kernel-source-2.2.10-2.2.10/arch/ppc/chrpboot'
./piggyback image < ../coffboot/vmlinux.gz | as -o image.o

This also happens to me. I'm using pm2fb on my Amiga. So it seems it's an X
server and/or kernel problem.

Hello, ...
There are still some problems with some ATI boards with the accelerated X
server i made.
I know that Hartmut has such problems with his aty-XClaim board (RagePro, 4MB
SGRAM).
Also i had a report of problems with a Mach64 GT (0x4754 rev 0x41, 2M EDO)
based board.
