Hi Amos,
You should try (in CLI) 'fbset -x' and then put the output into
Section "Monitor".
Attached an xorg.conf that's been working on a PowerMac 7500 with 4 MB VRAM.

I am running Debian on a PowerMac 8500/120, and because of hardware
limitations, have been trying to run the lightest GUI desktop
