Apple's OS (at least prior to OS X) didn't deal with any non-palletized
video mode where the color field sizes weren't

Apple's video has traditionally been a 15 bit system as opposed to the
normal 16 bit. Using a 15 bit setting for xfree normally works whereas,
from my experience, 16 bit settings are problematic. Mind you I haven't
actually played with my own ppc X settings for a while, but that is my
understanding

When i changed to 16bit X worked, but behaved very very
strangely, it was like the framebuffer wasnt being
cleared properly. LIke ghosts and stuff, things not
appearing properly.
But back to 24bit, ran beautifully.
Thats not a real concern thhough,
I am not sure but is the 16/15 bit issue still a problem with the Apple
hardware?

VertRefresh 50-130

Has anyone else had problems running at 16bit color?
Thanks
