Hi all,
I'm tring to patch my kernel (2.6.11-8) with swsusp2 [1] pacth on an Ibook G4
1.1
I've encoutered some problems and I googled this [2] page.
I edited the arch/ppc/Kconfig file and commented the first
"source kernel/power/Kconfig" line, but make-kpkg kernel-image doesn' t work.

I only use the swsusp-2.6.9.diff.

i am still not too sure what i am supposed to do with regards setting up
software suspend... i applied the swsusp-2.6.9.diff patch to a 2.6.9 kernel
tree, but typing `hibernate` says my kernel does not support hibernating. i
have set
CONFIG_SOFTWARE_SUSPEND=y
CONFIG_PM_STD_PARTITION="&q

Erik, the mailing list archive should have a couple of success stories
and hints.

swsusp seems pretty broken to me in the latest Linus kernels. Shoehorning
Guido's patch for -rc3 onto recent -rc4 just makes my Powerbook stop
tasks, free memory and freeze with the display turned off. Not
Can anyone suggest a good source for information on setting up swsusp on
a PowerBook G4?
Or for that matter, any power management features at all. I've got
pbbuttonsd running OK, but the most I can do with it is blank the
screen. I'd like to be able to do a full hibernate so I don't have to
keep r

I forgot to ask the most basic question: Which kernel options do I need
to enable for this to work?

Sure. I just haven't finalized them - no sanity checks of any kind, if the
suspend fails your machine will keep running out of battery. I will also
need to add a check on sysfs support.
I'll send a .deb by PM for

In order to get the USB stuff to unload, you'd first have to unload
bluetooth
Do you have .debs of that patched pmud?

Which modules do you have to unload exactly? I also use the bluetooth
modules (with a usb dongle), so I would guess I would have to unload all
of that. Also, if I'm using pmud, where do I put my "suspend" script?

Also unload the therm_xxx modules unless you've patched them to cooperate

I was reading through some of the archives on this list regarding
software suspend and I was wondering what is the best solution for an
iBook G4 800 Mhz. Here's my /proc/cpuinfo:
processor : 0
cpu : 7455, altivec supported
