mouse is USB. If so I beleive that you have to make sure that the relevant
kernel modules are loaded (input.o and mousedev.o I beleive [it has been a
while since my iMac ran Linux]) and the path to the dev file in this

I'm in the same boat. Except I know that when you see (EE) in your log, that
means bad things, and explains why X won't start. Try changing the mouse to
/dev/input/mice and see if that makes a difference.
